Me in my little sewing corner.

Hi!  Welcome to my blog! I hope you’ll join in the fun & funky conversation often!  My name is Mary, and I am the owner and creative mind behind Frayed Fuzzies.  Here I hope to share with you all the new and exciting developments with Frayed Fuzzies, as well as other artists and crafters stories, fun stories from the world of the arts, and loads of other fun tid-bits.   Born and raised in St. Louis, MO, I now live in Cincinnati, OH and work primarily in technical theatre.  My theatre tech training is in costuming and stage management.  I have traveled across the US building and designing costumes for numerous productions, as well as working as a touring stage manager with the Actor’s Equity Association for other productions.  The arts in all forms have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember–right from when I was old enough to hold a jumbo crayon and doodle on paper taped to my high-chair tray.  One art form that has always been a constant in my life is quilting.  I am a 4th generation quilter (that’s a phrase I never thought I would hear myself say!).  My mother and grandmother always seem to have a quilt in the frame, and spend countless hours hand-quilting these beautiful works of art.  Being of the Millennial Generation, I do not possess the patience for hand quilting.  I chose to concentrate on rag quilts, because they are still a traditional quilt pattern, yet I can put a more modern twist to them with different patterns and color schemes.

How Frayed Fuzzies Came About

I started Frayed Fuzzies on Etsy in July of 2010 as a fun way to pass the time between job contracts.  What started out as something to keep my mind busy has now turned into a full-fledged handmade business, and I have been loving every minute of it!
